a solid drink

this was a good drink, cognac was subtle and left a good aftertaste. i think there might be too much lime juice in original recipe

Make a Side Car with spiced rum and edge the glass with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Serve in chilled martini glass.
Cointreau!
By
Kristopher Lee
Add Cointreau instead of Triple Sec .. better taste, better quality .. anybody can afford a Walmart shoe but wouldnt a Nike feel so much better .. just cuz Triple Sec costs less doesnt mean use it .. go for the Cointreau .. it will make a difference.
definitely Cointreau and less lemon!
By Boomer
I've always made them with a half ounce lemon juice and Cointreau. And Hennessey Cognac.
sour is better

instead if lemon juice, try sour mix. This absolutely my favorite drink, and not many bartenders even know what it is.

Second Rate Drink

Your recipe makes a poor side car, try this instead.
To make the Rolls Royce of Side Cars use Courvoisier V.S.O.P., Cointreau, 1 oz. fresh lemon add a pinch of superfine sugar and shake shake shake. This is a very smooth drink with a wonderful bouquet and finish. If you have a cold, substitute tangerine juice for extra vitamin C and a yummy surprise.
The recipe is fine

cointreau is a tripplesec and it doesn't say what type of cognac to use.
very mellow

sour mix is good, but fresh lemon AND lime juice (with a little pulp, of course) is wondermous with hennessy & cointreau.....just fabulicious!!
perfect sidecar
By hypr
THE KEY - use a 4:2:1 ratio
2 oz cognac
1 oz cointreau
.5 oz lemon juice
things not to do:
a) dont use sour mix
b) dont use equil amounts of lemon and cointearu (the lemon takes over its too tart..)
Watch that tone Missy...

I'd keep it zipped if I were you Carl. This is a board to discuss IDEAS. Cork that negativity cookie or we'll cork it for you.
I try to lend my voice in here as seldom as possible in here, but when I read smart mouthed upstarts such as this Carl character typing off the after effects of a methamphetamine binge on a message board as benign and innocent as a DRINK RECIPE forum, well that's when I simply must put my foot down.

"A Yummy Surprise?"
By bucky
Liz, hon, leave the florid hausfrau shtick to Martha Stewart. We're discussing the ingredients of an ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE dear, NOT a recipe for your Grammy's peach cobbler.
"Yummy" Hoo boy.
(I hope that this will be the LAST hackneyed New Hampshirean homily I read in here).
Maybe I'm wrong...
but wasn't "Drink Street" the name of an early Janet Jackson tune? I think she debuted it on an episode of "Fame".
This was before her wardrobe malfunction and after her "Penny" on "Good Times" role
Luv a good cocktail
Had my first side car recently but having no good luck replicating at home.
Am I measuring wrong? I follow 4:2:1 ratio with Cointreau but mine still tastes too Cognacy...
Cheers!
What's it called if...
Yummy- there's that word again- I made it at home with OJ because I had no lemon juice. Still "yummy" but should it have a new name?
