Possibly one of the best drinks one could ever have. A great ice breaker on a first date, because most people haven't had one. Also, because it either makes or breaks your first impression of people. If they're into trying it, you know they're your kind of inebriants. If they're opposed to trying it, well, you know you're in for a long night. I don't know about the review above, a shot of amaretto and a shot of 151 down the pipe and then chug the beer. Doesn't really work that way. 3/4 amaretto, topped off with 1/4 151, light the sucker and drop it in a glass of beer filled 3/4 of the way, preferably a dark lager, and as it fizzes imbibe like there's no tomorrow. The key is the mixture of the amaretto, 151, beer, and the quick chug. After all, "If anything's worth doing, it's worth doing right". Enjoy, Savor, Drink and be Merry.

Drink these first!

I would not recommend drinking these after you have already been drinking for a while. They go down very easily and if you are not careful a long night could be in store for you. By the time the night was over I had consumed 7 flaming doctor peppers and a random assortment of other liquors. Needless to say I woke up on my floor with an incredible hang over. So remember, drink responsibly or if not hope you have some helpful friends looking out for you!

we use a frosted mug of beer and add coke to 3/4full.we use 1/2oz amaretto 1/2oz yukon jack in shot glass and light it drop in the mug and chug its great !

just made this a bit bigger, took a bed wetter sized beer mug, rougly 3 beers to get 3/4 full, 2 shots of both amaretto and 151, tough to chug, but well worth it

ladies and gents, this is how you do it... a great night...my 21st...a flaming dr. pepper? my pleasure!!! a glass of beer filled about 2/3 way to top (light beer to those who perfer, and dark to the others. A shot glass of 1/4 bacardi 151, 1/4 yukon jack, 1/4 root beer schnaaps and 1/4 coke. ignite shot and drop into glass of beer. chug immediately and quickly and get ready for the best night of your life! do not consume more than 2/hour....ever...no matter how much of a pro you think you are. and if you consume 4 in 2 hours, don't drink any more liquor, only beer. and if it's your 21st,enjoy. if you're the designated, one, or two and nothing else. happy birthday.

The weekend before I got married me and the boys crossed over to mexico and the bartender sereved me them with 3/4 glass of beer and a full shot of mexican moonshine light and chug and after 5 in 2 hrs kiss it goodbye and hang it up

I'm a big fan of Dr. Pepper...but a little more than a year ago, at a family party...I decided to try something new...so I grabbed a pint glass i threw in 1/2 shot of ouzo...I put in a double shooter glass with amaretto, and filled 1/4 of the glass with coke...and the rest with heineken beer (they didn't have dark ale)...and it was good and something different...usually if you dont have ouzo around...sambuca works just as nicely...there's a slight difference though...

One night my friend introduced this drink to us. it took us not that long to learn how to make them. after a few people burning off there mustaches and burning the hair off there hands we were so drunk 5 out of 6 people that were drinking these were on their knees throwing up there guts.. hey but at least it was fun, well I cant remember if it was fun but who cares. also instead of half a beer try a whole beer.

Better Way

Whenever i've had Dr Pepper it was made the following way 1/2 mug of beer pour about 1/4 mug of coca cola drop in a shot of amaretto CHUG

The original Dr. Pepper was first invented in a local night club called "The Goldmine." And the true recipe calls for 3/4 mug of beer (the better the beer the better the taste) or however much it takes to cover the shot glass. Then take a shot glass and fill it 3/4 the way with amaretto and top it off with Everclear (180 proof). The reason it changed is most of the country can't get Everclear so a sutitable substitute had to be found, so 151 was used, which is a more popular alcohol. Then take the shot glass, light it, drop it, drink it. And that is the whole story.

instead of just lighting the shot and dropping it: balance a shot glass with 3/4 amaretto & 1/4 151 on a pint glass 1/2 full of beer. turn a rocks glass upside down, pour a little 151 and light. pour a little 151 on your fingers (i prefer pinky and pointer sos i can HOOK EM HORNS). get about a shot of 151 in your mouth, light your fingers, blow the 151 over your fingers toward the shot glass. knock the shot into the beer and chug-a-lug. make sure you have at least a 10' ceiling and about a 5' radius around the beer so that no one gets lit- at least not literally.

We made our flaming dr peppers with 1/2 shot of amaretto, and added 1/2 a shot of clear spring (190 proof) and then rest as follows, made for a very fun night.

I have been mixing for many years and this drink keeps getting made different all the time. I'm not saying my way is the right way, but it's worked with many satisfied people. here we go. mix kahlua and ammareto together so they together fill up exactly half of the shot glass. Then fill up the rest of the shot glass with 151 (since most don't have everclear) then light and drop into glass of beer of choice that is 1/2 to 3/4 way filled up. I will be more than happy to try these other ways also.

what about the flaming funnel

Take a 2 beer funnel and fill it with a beer and a half. Then prepare the flames with 1 shot 151, 1/2 ammaretto, and 1/2 kaluha. Light er up and pour on top of the funnel, then get on your knees and get ready to have a fun night.

Slight Variation

First time I tried this, my friend made it with a shot of amaretto, then slightly cover the shot with everclear, light it, and drop into Dr. Pepper.

first u take 2 pieces of bread, then you spread the peanut butter on the bread and on the other you put the jelly on it. After this you slap the two pieces of bread together and then you cut the sandwich in half down the middle and then yo get on your knees and have a fun night!!!!

MY GROOMSMAN THREW ME A BACHELOR PARTY THIS PAST WEEKEND. AND I CAN SAY THAT AFTER 7 FLAMING DR.PEPPERS 12 BEERS AND A PINT OF VODKA IT WAS A PRETTY ENJOYABLE NIGHT.. WE MIXED OUR DR.PEPPERS WITH 1/2 SHOT OF AMARETTO 1/2 SHOT OF 151 AND A BEER MUG 3/4 FULL OF COORS LIGHT. TRUST ME THEY WORKED FINE.I HAD TO BE CARRIED TO THE COUCH BEFORE MIDNIGHT.

Ive just been looking over net for inspiration for a cocktail list. Came across this one and made it. Granted I have never heard of a dr Pepper (dont have them in NZ) but I dont really mind coz this drink is NASTY!!! Did I make it right- I put 1/2 Amaretto, 1/2 Barcardi 151 and dropped it in Amstel?

Here's how it's done

A few people have said it correctly but most have not. Here is how you correctly make a Flaming Dr. Pepper: Fill a pint glass about 2/3 full of light beer. Take a wide double shot glass and start by pouring Amaretto up to about 3/4 of the shot glass. On top of the Amaretto drizzle the other 1/4 full of Bacardi 151. Be careful as you light the shot, sometimes flames can be present on the sides of the shot glass near your fingers if you have spilled a little over the edge. Anyway, light the top of the shot with a match and place it as deep down in the beer as you can without letting go yet. This will avoid the splash all over your hands. Once the shot is on fire and the bottom of the shot glass is slightly submerged in the beer, drop it all the way down to the bottom of the glass and chug immediately. As the shot is dropped the flames will go out. You must chug the whole thing as fast as you can in order to get the Dr. Pepper taste. I have a true passion for this drink and I recommend it to all who have chugging experience. First introduced to me as a complimentary 21st birthday drink at my local bar.

WARNING!

DO NOT FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS!!! Only an idiot picks up a flaming shotglass! Place an empty glass adjacent to your 6 oz of beer. This way you can balance the shotglass on the edge before lightly tipping it, after lit, into the frothy mixture. As always... be carefull.

its only nice when ur half way drunk half pint of beer. fill rest of way near enuff drop ammeretto in and down it as fast as you can

Flaming parties!!!

I didn't read all of the postings but the reciepe is slightly off. It's a shot glass filled half way with armaretto Disarano (the good stuff), second half topped off with 151 rum layered (no mixing), and a beer stien filled 3/4 with a lighter beer (coors, bud, miller, whatever) and a towel (you'll need one). Light it, drop it,& down it. If you only top the shot with 151 then you are only making the beer sweet. (drink the booze...no toppiing off). Throw a flaming Dr. Pepper party, loads of fun and you get to watch rookies pass out left and right. After a couple, try having someone prepare the drink for you...you'll be to f'd up to make your own.

This is the way i make it and it taste just like a dr. pepper with a kick. 1/2 151 and 1/2 rootbeer schnapps light them then drop it in your cup of your favorite beer. And you will be feeling it in a matter of minutes. Don't drink too many because you will be falling over after about three of them. Enjoy
