"perfect" lemon drop!

I was introduced to a drink very similar, however it was called a "perfect lemon drop" and I believe was a shot of citron vodka (chilled) and a lemon wedge with sugar on it. The sugar coated lemon wedge chased the shot. I have also had the Lemon Drop as shown here and found it very enjoyable

Better Lemon Drop
By Joey

This version is better off done at home. Most bars are far too buys to try this. One of the bartenders at the bar I used to work at, took a metal bowl and put a lemon wedge for each person. Pour Grand Marnier over the lemon wedges and then pour sugar. Then light the grand marnier with a match and it will in a sense carmalize the sugar. Use the lemon wedge to follow the shot and it is absolutely magnificent.

Flaming Lemon Drop
By Brian

Add a couple drops of Galiano. Place a lemon slice on top of the glass. Cover the entire slice with a layer of sugar and then soak the sugar with 151 and ignite. Let the 151 burn off. It carmalizes the sugar nicely. Be careful not to get 151 in the shot also let it cool down before drinking. Remember fire is HOT!

This is a great shot, but even better, a Rasberry Lemon Drop. 1oz Vodka 1oz Sweet & Sour 1/2oz Rasberry Liquer 1/2oz Grenadine

5/5
Raspberry version

Pretty much the same drink, but use raspberry vodka, serve in martini-style glass with sugared rim. For some reason this drink carries less "next day penalty" than others I've had... the lemon juice maybe?

Orgasmic Lemon Drop
By BondGirl

Same recipe as the drinkstreet recipe but exchange the vodka by some Vanilla Stoli (Stolichnaya) vodka. Now we're talking! Super smooth taste that neutralizes the "hard" after taste of the other vodkas. Dan-ge-rous...

I love it

this is my absolute favorite drink of choice because it is so fun to make at a party....i use one shot vodka (you can even use the cheapest there is) and one shot lemon juice all in a sugar rimmed double shot glass....it might not be the best way to prepare them but everybody around here loves them....

my friend makes these "lemondrops" with shot vodka, shot triple sec (for the sweetness)& 1/2 lemon. they're a bit stronger than others, but it gets the job done!

Best Lemon Drop Ever

I ounce vodka, splash of cointreau and 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice. Rim the martini glass with sugar. It's a surprisingly very refreshing drink.

The Real Lemon Drop
By Boozy McBoozerson

If yall want to try the lemon drop the right way it's like this. You take a shot of Aboulut Citron and the bite into a lomon wedge that's been dipped in sugar. It's like candy. Works well with Smirnoff 100 proof too. Enjoy!!

just say no to sweet and sour

I had a beautiful lemon drop martini made with soley vodka, lemon juice, and sugar at Strings in Denver. I ordered one at a place just down the road and got some drink that tasted slightly of lemon--found out they had used sweet and sour. It was terrible. The smoothness of the sugar and lemon juice just cannot be matched by a substitute. If you don't have the ingredients, make a different drink...you'll be more satisfied.

Lemon Drops- A good Ice Breaker

Honestly, im not one to take shots, but this is something everyone has to try once.

The "REAL" Lemon Drop
By Rusty, Atlanta, GA

Try this at your next get-together... Shot glasses, shot of your favorite Vodka, slice of lemon on top of each shot glass, sprinkle sugar on the lemon, pour 1/2 cap of 151 on the sugar/lempon. light each one and turn out the lights. When it has finished burning....hold the lemon, shoot the drop and follow with lemon bite. Great stuff and fun too!

Great Shot

We just take a lemon wedge and cover it in sugar, then take a shot of vodka, and suck the lemon wedge... it's yummy

Lick-Drink-Suck
By Nikki

There are many versions but the one I like is to lick your hand and pour sugar on it so you lick the sugar off, than drink the shot(a mixture of vodka and sweet and sour), than suck on a lemon wedge. To make it a little more fun you can lick the sugar off of other people...yes this is always a fun shot to do:)

woo-hoo, well i took the best of all reviews and ran with it, so far ive got ice, limes, triple sec, grenadine & sugar mixed til cold then poured into a sugared-rim double shotglass, yeah!! had 3 already in last 15 minutes, sure beats a shitty ol screwdriver, lololol. btw, i don't have a fancy mixer set so i just used 2 different sized glasses to mix and carefully strain the drink (test it with water first!) and i think you could just substitute a bit of sugar for grenadine and/or triple sec if you didn't have any, all you really need is vodka, ice, lemon/lime, sugar and a couple of glasses....damn I'm buzzed!!!!

paul

last review should have vodka in the list of drink ingredients (of course!!!) damn I'm buzzed!!

at house parties, we mix vodka, lemen wedges, and ice.... kinda crush the lemons in it a bit, put it in the freezer for a bit. then on a plate coat lemon slices with sugar, strain the lemon mix in a shot glass. Take the shot bite the lemon....then repeat. shot after shot the most ive done in 15 min is 10.... then prceded to get drunk....

Low(er)-cal Lemon Drop
By ~Susan~

I figure most people are thinking "If your gonna drink, screw the calories!" I lost 50 ponds 8 years ago and am always looking for ways to cut calories, but I REFUSE to give up my lemon drops. Try cutting the sugar with slenda. It is not an artificial sweetner made in a lab (it's made from sugar), so there is none of that aspartame/sacchrine after taste. And please, people, do NOT use sweet-n-sour mix unless you intend to have a vodka sour!

Real Party Maker

I love vodka lemondrops...but I found that you can follow those directions but use Everclear instead of vodka. (1 shot of Everclear, pinch of Triple Sec, about a ounce of lemon juice, then add sugar). I can not take Everclear straight, but with this, I did 4 with in a 15 minute period. That with 5 vodka lemondrops made one heck of a night when it all hit! DISCLAIMER: BE CAREFUL WHEN CONSUMING EVERCLEAR...ITS VERY POTENT.

yum

We've always taken a package of sugar sprinkled 1/2 on a lemon slice, put a little on the side of your hand (between the thumb and forefinger). lick the sugar off your hand, take a shot of vodka and suck on the lemon. They are great.

Pinky
By Pinky Smith, Tallahassee

Try your favorite lemon drop recipe as a martini with the sugared rim, but before pouring the drink into the glass drizzle the inside walls of the glass with honey. This is a Honeysuckle Lemon Drop. Sounds like something Winnie the Pooh would drink in the Hundred Acre Wood! I'd love to see Pooh tie one on!

black and blue
By parysa

A better way to do this shot is to take Blavod (black vodka, blavod.com) and blue curacao, equal parts of each. Sugar the rim and chase with the lemon wedge. You can also add a splash of sour mix. :)

Needs more sugar
By Becky

We tripled the sugar to make this drinkable. Was still sour w/ lemon and had a bite form alcohol, but needed more sugar!

5/5
meyer lemon
By Squidman

try lemon drops with equal parts top-shelf vodka of choice (mine is grey goose) and MEYER lemons with a splash of cointreau. Very California. NO sugar if you use the sweet meyer lemon. Shake that baby hard with ice and enjoy. Refreshing, not too sweet or sour with meyer lemon, less hangover with no sugar.

Kool-Aid

When youre pressed for time and all you have is the vodka mix up a pitcher of kool-aid brand pink lemonade with a little extra sugar and add vodka to taste preference. This drink is really good and taste just like fresh squeezed lemonade.

try this

this is the best drink to have when you get into the club if it is made right.

Buzzfusser

My roommate and I tried the Kool-Aide version of a Lemon Drop (what can I say we're po' college students!) We've renamed it The Ghetto Lemon Drop! It's extra good if you just mix the vodka and the Kool-aide--don't bother with pesky H2O. Hope I feel alright tomorrow morning!

Ewwww Yummmmy

This makes a great shot.. Going down is quick and no heavy aftertaste (or burn). The sugar makes this drink soooo goooood. Great vodka starter drink for a night of fun.

A couple of options
By BarmanMitch

I like to use 1 oz Vodka and a little triple sec chilled I think it brings more out in the shot that useing just a citrus vodka. Also, a little off the wall but If you can find it use Green Tea Vodka and Triple sec It is simply amazing.
