A little diversity

Jamison seems to be a much better alternative to the Irsih cream. Gives the coffee a stronger flavor and a higher eschelon feel

Well really....

Yuk. Use brown sugar and irish whisky in an irish coffee glass, add good coffee and float lightly whipped cream on top. Looks great, tastes great. Begorrah.

use Jameson instead of Irish cream and whipped cream instead of light cream. also top with a drizzle of green creme de menthe on the whipped cream.

Irish Coffee, best of both.
By Scooter

I've been tending bar for about 5 years now and here's what I've found to be my most popular version for Irish coffee. 3oz hot, STRONG coffee (a rich roast is preferable, but not French or Columbian roasts, they have their own tastes) 1 1/2-2oz Irish Whiskey (anybody is good, Bushmills, Jameson, or Tullamore Dew) 1/2oz-1oz Irish Cream (Carolans, Baileys, whoever.) Whipped Cream In an Irish coffee mug or regular mug (if that's all you've got), fill w/ coffee (instant works if you don't have a nice fresh pot brewed), followed by whiskey, then Irish Cream. Top with Whipped Cream with perhaps a Andes Mint candie or grated cinnimon for decor and serve it hot. The Irish whiskey typically speaking can be anybody b/c you're covering it w/ the coffee and the Irish Cream. It's the Irish Cream that makes this drink a nice capper for a long nice at the bar or something nice to sip after dinner. It provides complexity and richness which people I think expect when the ask for an Irish based drink. My rule is, don't skimp them, chances are they'll be back for more, regardless if it's a few more cents for one at the bar down the road.

Irish Cream?

That's is definitely some old lady version which I don't know. Try this: 3 ounces of Irish Whisky mixed with 3 ounces of strong coffee (fastest way are 3 spoons of original Swiss Nescafe - foreign versions are shit). Lot of sugar, mix it well and drink it through a lot of whipped cream on the top. Never stir it, you will spoil this fabulous drink.

If you want the ghetto version, which does well in a hurry. Take a cup of coffee, stong, add International Delight Irish Creme and a fat shot of of some cheap Vodka, you can drink alot, and you don't get hungover!

where did u get that receipe?

this drink should always be made with brown sugar.jameson is best, mix with black coffee and sugar and fresh whipped cream on top.i wouldn't advise anyone to make it with irish cream as that is not an irish coffee.I am from Dublin,Ireland and we never drink it that way.

real irish coffee

I only know because i have worked in an irish bar for years add 3oz of irish whiskey and 2 big spoonfulls of brown sugar to coffee and dissolve the sugar, now layer heavy cream to cover the surface of the drink. Use enough brown sugar so that the cream floats..good stuff

A better way...
By Fast Eddie

My father taught me this one> 1oz Irish Mist: not whiskey 1 fingernail worth of brown sugar in bottom of mug Strong black coffee Cool Whip Boil water, fill mugs with the water to heat them up. In a sauce pan over medium heat, bring the Irish Mist to a simmer. Remove Mist from heat. Pour into empty heated mug, over the brown sugar, stir. Fill close to the top with coffee. Apply a large scoop of the Cool Whip. You can either sip the drink through the Cool Whip (my choice) or mix the Cool Whip in. I have tried "Irish Coffee" in a number of bars and restaurants. No of them have compared to the Irish Mist version. Let me know what you think....

I like it like this...
By Phoenix Web Designer

I add a good size splash of Baileys, a splash of Jaimeson, a splash of coffee mate vanilla creamer, and fill the cup with good dark coffee, then squirt some whipped cream on the top. Sprinkle some cinnamon on the cream and boom. Good stuff
