Can Be Amazingly Good

I haven't tried this recipe, but I have had many Caipirinhas. It is a WONDERFUL drink from Brazil; very smooth and tastes a bit like a Lime Aide. Drink two and then try to stand up; you'll wonder why you're still sitting down.

make sure to crush the lime well and the sugar amount can be modified to taste. as a brasilian, i have to say this is my absolute favorite drink! want a twist? add vodka instead. in brasil, cachaca is actually cheaper, but it tastes better in my opinion!!

This drink is amazing

And why not make it even more amazing? If you half the amount of Cachacha and add a quarter of vodka lemon and a quarter of vodka currant. Then you have something special!

sugar syrup, instead of granulated?
By George Sinclair

people always go on about how they only use brown sugar cubes in Brazil. well, they actually use...sugar syrup, OR brown sugar cubes. they use whatever sugar they want. sugar syrup is better in my opinion, as it is fully disolved already, so there is no chance of a gritty drink. and no, gritty drinks are not good! it is also easier to adjust the sweetness afterwards, by stirring in some more sugar syrup.

I love Brazil, but..........
By Bob

Even though the Caipirinha might be considered the token Brazilian drink, it really doesn't compare to the Caipiroska. It may just have to do with cheap cachaca, but I think that vodka goes much better with the lime and sugar. Maybe it's just the Western European in me.... Para todos os brasileiros, desculpen, mas a Caipiroska e melhor, voces sabem.

excellent drink!

My husband and I went to a brazilian resturant for our anniversary. We both ordered one of these drinks. Wow! We make them at home now, but we just use Bacardi. Tastes great!

Great Drink

Caipirinha is the "in" drink since years here in Germany and very Yummy. I agree that you need good Cachaça to make a goood Caipirinha. But here they do it a bit different. Slices of Lime (the green ones) in a glas and add some BROWN SUGAR and squeeze it. Then add CRUSHED ICE on it (yep, fill the glass) and then add the Cachaça. Yummy !!! If you don´t have Cachaça at home you can always do a CAIPIROSHKA .. it´s nearly the same drink just instead of Cachaça you use Vodka. I prefer this one, it´s my favorite drink ever. Or you can do a CAIPIRUMBA .. yep, it´s the same, just with Rum : ))

I had this drink at Brazil Grill @ 48th and 8th in NYC.The drink special was $4.00 from 4pm-7pm. It was great. I liked it alot. I like it better than the margaritas and it is way better than those stupid mojitos. I shall be visiting Brazil Grill more often than not! Viva Caipirinha ~ para siempre!!!
