HAWAII

OMG..I love Hawaii. One, cuz of the weather..two, cuz of all the FINE boys..and three, cuz it was the only place, not to mention the first time I had a Mai-Tai! All I can say is.."I wanna go back!" (for the drink)

oh my

I live by the Tiki bar in Solomons Island, they're famous for their mai tai's. They use hawaiian punch instead of the juices though- I drank one and I was gone. This drink officially gave me my first hangover.

Trader Vic's Mai Tai
By Iffy

Trader Vic's original Mai Tai has gold rum, lime juice, orgeat, curacao, and some bar syrup (watered-down corn syrup), and it is fantastic. The original recipe is too strong for me, but through some experimenting I found a good combination was simply 1oz of Rum, Orgeat, Orange Curacao, and 0.5oz of bar syrup, shaken with crushed ice and strained into a double old-fashioned with cubes. Try substituting Amaretto for the Orgeat, or Triple-Sec or Grand Marnier for the Curacao, depending on how much money you have. You can also float some dark rum for a stronger drink.

My first taste of rum was on cruise in the Mediterranian when I was 17. During happy hour on the boat I bought four mai-tais and went to Turkey in 109 degree weather...not smart but tasty.
