A martini by any other name...
By Eric

I discovered these sweet concoctions when I was trapped in a martini bar in downtown San Francisco. They weren't able to mix me any of my usual drinks, and didn't carry most beers. In the end, I tried this because of it's classy appearance, and loved the sweet and tart flavor. Highly recommended.

Great change of pace
By Nancy

I'm not a martini drinker, but had this while with friends in Vegas at the San Fran bar/restaurant in the MGM. It was wonderful. I thought it tasted like a Jolly Rancher candy, so I guess they didn't use the best quality apple schnapps. I plan to buy the good stuff. Maybe tomorrow!

Hard to get the right one!
By Susan

I loved this drink the first time a friend ordered it for me. Since then, I have tried at many different places to order it and it came out different every time, without the pretty clear bright green color and didn't taste as good. I have now figured out it's the sweet and sour mix that clouds it and ruins the taste. So I agree, skip the mix altogether and proportion the apple pucker and vodka to your own taste!

Apple Martinis are the bomb!!!!

I LOVE APPLE MARTINIS, BUT WITHOUT THE SWEET & SOUR MIX. ONLY APPLE PUCKER AND VODKA......THE MORE VODKA, THE BETTER.

Wouldn't mind one now
By Hallie

I'm just doing some research because my sister told me they had "apple martinis" this weekend and she told me they are 3 parts vodka and 1 part Pucker apple. Whoa!!!! No wonder they like them. Sounds good to me...but I've never had a martini in my life and from what my research tells me, this is not a REAL martini (even if it is good)

Boop

It has become my one and only. I had it for the first time at Lola's in Beverly Hills years ago, topped w/a green apple slice. Simply marvelous! This drink tickles me fancy, but be careful ... it's a sneak attack.

I agree, they are the BOMB!
By Myoshi

I was only introduced to the apple martini late last year and I am hooked. The first was at Houstons in Manhattan. They were initially visually appealing, bright green liquid with a slice of green apple floating on top. They were even tasty...sweet then tart. I wanted another right after the first. After the third, I felt it's punch. Be careful because that tasty delight does pack a nice little punch. After you are done it is just as nice to much on the slice of apple. My friends and I frequently go to Houstons but not for the atmopshere or the food. It is the apple martinis that draw us. Every place does seem make them differently many without the apple slice. A cherry just does not compare. So Back to Houstons we will go for that tasty little drink.

At The Met !
By Betsy Wynn Morris

I've just started to really enjoy a drink this year a slow starter, but making up for it! I love "dirty" Martinis. We go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on Fridays to start the weekend off and listen to some music and have a drink. They were serving "apple martinis" so I decided to try one....it was totally great....they make it the same way as your receipe. They use a melon scoop and make little apple balls that float in the glass.....ahhh NYC

I first had a green apple martini at a downtown restaurant in Houston. We asked for them recently while vacationing in Belize. After researching the recipe on the net, our bartender made it with equal parts Apple Pucker and Vodka and a splash of Cointreau, shaken with ice. It was a little too strong on the vodka for our taste, so we adjusted to one part vodka, two parts Apple Pucker and splash of Cointreau. Very tasty!

A Different Kind of Martini
By Deidre

I use Gin instead of Vodka and I use Apple Puckers instead of sweet & sour mix. Get out the shaker and put 2 parts pucker for every oz. of gin over ice. Shake it up and pour. It tastes like an apple jolly rancher, so good!

Lola's Martini Lounge Lover
By Bi Bi

Lola's is actually in West Hollywood (on Fairfax between Santa Monica Blvd. and Willoughby), not Beverly Hills. Their bartenders really know how to mix a seductive Apple Martini. Don't get caught up though. Be adventurous. Their Key Lime vanilla is a killer.

Nice drink but I prefer 1 1/2 oz of gin, 1 1/2 sour apple schnapps, splash of soda, splash of sweet and sour, and i like it with a green apple slice.

Grey Goose L'Orange rocks my Appletini!
By G Monee

My friend Maynard concocted the following one night: 3 oz Grey Goose L'orange 2.5 oz Sour Apple Schnapps 0.5 oz Midori splash of sweet 'n' sour Mix vigorously, pour into a chilled martini glass, and garnish with a thin Granny Smith apple slice. That's pretty much all I drink now. I called it "Maynard's Citrappletini" in his honor.

I have been perusing the new martini craze and got into sour apple martinis. The one I liked best was done at an upscale philly night spot - a jazz club. The bartender made it perfectly. Truly, the key to this is to proportion it and use the best ingredients. Here's my take on the best version, so if you tried yours, please try mine and email me back and let me know. It's the best! 1 1/2 oz. top shelf vodka 3/4 oz. sour apple Pucker 1 oz. Daily's Hard Lemonade (for sour mix) This ingredient is the key. It gives the right blend of sweet, tart and not too acid. It amdes the difference and is good used for many sours, and all drinks requiring a splash of sour mix. Try it also with many other varieties of your favorite liquors. Makes a fantastic French Martini, a wonderful Whiskey sour, a dynamite Juniper Cocktail (gin, lime juice, sour and grenadine/pomegranate. Splash of lime juice Party on but please drink respectfully.

I had this drink for the first time about a month ago and I am hooked. Instead of using plain vodka, try Apple Smirnoff Twist instead. It's amazing the difference it makes in the drink

Drinking and Gambling
By grateful4u@hotmail.com

When in Las Vegas, get an Apple Martini only at the Aladdin Hotel & Casino. Everywhere else serves a version that just doesn't match up to those served at the Aladdin. I have no idea what the difference is, but when you taste them, you'll understand. P.S. Better hurry also, because the Aladdin went bankrupt and is turning into Planet Hollywood next year. Who knows what the drinks will taste like then.

Can You Add Orange Juice??
By Leyna

At the bar about 2 weeks ago I saw a guy with a bright green drink. He let me try it and it tasted just like a sour apple lollipop. He told me it had Sour Apple Pucker, Vodka, and Orange Juice. Has anyone tried it this way? I've tried to remake it but it never tastes the same. Please let me know.

Do NOT forget the Cointreau
By Nyu Yorkah

I was wondering what was wrong with this recipe - when I ran across the tip to add cointreau. For whatever reason, cointreau seems to be able to even counter cheaper vodka - no idea why. So unless you LOVE the taste of vodka, toss in the C and take out the bite.

Atini Lover
By Sandy

It's new year's eve and I'm reading all the comments because I'm in charge of the apple martinis. I have the lemon twist vodka, sour mix and apple pucker. I also add a splash of orange juice to the mix. Although I enjoy my recipe, I always felt like something is missing. So I'm running at at 7:00 p.m. to get the cointreau. Thanks for all your comments, and happy New Year!!!!!

..They are all good but the key is in the Vodka. Belevedere and Grey Goose are good choices...this drink is about vodka so don't settle for less.

Had first apple martini (or appletini as my friends say) this past weekend. Very refreshing. I enjoy martini straight up and find appletini not quite as strong, so able to have more than one. Is that good or not?? Try it, you will definitely like it.

Is it truely a martini?
By Rather-Interesting

This recipe, and many others like it, is quite good; however, is it truely a martini? I was always under the impression that a martini should contain a significantly noticable amount of vermouth with either vodka or gin. Many individuals say they add just a drop, or even just spray some vermouth on the top! That sounds to me to be, well, just straight vodka or straight gin. The smoothest tasting martinis, that I've ever had, have been 1 to 1 gin and dry vermouth, and of course a multitude of fruit juices and liqueurs.

why sour when red is better
By apple doctor

Try a red apple. 2oz apple vodka, 1/2 oz apple pucker, 1oz amaretto, 1oz crown royal, 1oz cranberry, sour mix for optional sour flavor. Blows all apple martini's away.

Came up with this

This is the BEST apple martini ever. 1 oz Grey Goose Vodka, 1 oz Cointreau Liquer' Orange, 1 oz Apple juice, and 1/2 oz Sour Apple Pucker. Shake with ice, and serve it with or w/o ice. For best results, chill Vodka in freezer.

Best Appletini

The best apple martini I ever had (and I prefer without the sweet & sour) was at George's in La Jolla. Unquestionably superior.

Apple Slices??? a question

Great comments. I enjoyed them all, especially the different recipes, which I will try. Does anyone know how to slice such thin green apples and keep them from browning? Thanks!
